Noun: An informal private conversation or discussion. Verb: Engage in informal private conversation.

"How did you do that?"

"Why did you do that?"

That's how it all started, well at least that's how we remember it. People started asking how our products, culture and overall approaches actually worked behind the scenes. Eventually after enough people asked, we decided to embrace the opportunity and started contemplating that age old question "what's wrong with consulting" - as in "why does everyone rate consultants just below shark attacks?"

Little by little we realized that the reason people have issues with consultants, is consultants rarely hit the mark. You know what we mean; big promises, little results, lots of lip service and most of all lack of skin in the game. Like it or not, that's the issue. Heck even we don't like hiring consultants and highly recommend you don't either.

So what happened next?

Well we ended up deciding that if we were going to get into the consulting game it would need to be a very different style of consulting. We decided we would only consult on those things we really knew deeply, coming directly from our own experiences building our own products. We decided we would take risks with our clients, be extremely forthright and put our own skin in the game.

So what came of the decision?

Well from what our clients tell us, it was the right decision. We are different, bold, transparent and not always going to tell you things you might like hearing. That's where the name "confab" came from. We rather be the ones you let your guard down with, tell us your dreams, fears, problems and challenges over a cup of coffee, then hold you hostage to a "Power Point" presentation. Just know that at the end of the day we are going to be there with you and treat you, your clients and your dreams - like our own.

Yeah we know - more words on a page. Blah. Blah. Blah

Well all we can tell you is that we have never really seeked out a client. Our business typically comes from referral or happenstance, we truly practice what we preach and we are true to our word. The only way to really find out though is to give us a chance. We have done some great things for our clients. Built new business units, helped them enter new markets, refactored and breathed life into products, created entirely new products from the ground up, changed cultures and driven bottom line growth.

So as long as people keep asking us how and why (and we keep learning from our own day-to-day experiences) we will keep having informal conversations that turn great ideas into action and action into great results. But we warn you, if you want a typical, do it by the book consulting firm, that's not us! Heck we don't even wear suits (most of the time). ;0)
